This Week's Assignment I hope that everyone had an opportunity to complete the first assignment. If you haven't you will have another opportunity to complete the assignment using your digital camera. If your digital camera is similar to mine using all the bells and whistles takes some effort. Spend some time exploring some of your camera's capabilities and take some pictures using different settings then you have been doing. It is very easy to take the easy way out and use the auto everything setting. That's great if everything fits in that catagory. It is always best to experiment when there is no pressure on you to perform. Try taking the same scene using different resolution. Use your flash inside at varying distances from the wall. Try using slow shutter speed with your flash and see if that helps keep the background more pleasing. Make sure you try to capture action. Try one with the action coming right at you and one with the action crossing at 45 or 90 deg angle. |

This week we will be covering Digital Photography. If you just got a digital camera, chances you are wondering how to get started. The camera may look different, feel different, and operate differently from other cameras. Don't worry - it is a real camera, and it holds the promise for lots of fun and creativety. The first step is to unpack the box, cables, cards, CD-ROMs, and manual. * Read the manual and go through the basics before you take a picture. * Charge the batteries or install fresh non-rechargeable batteries, turn on the camera and shoot your first picture. * Insert memory card or storage disk * Set the image quality * If you have a choice of settings use a lower resolution just to see what the quality will be like. * Repeat the exercises from last week. * Note the differences and let's discuss them. |
